It is Labor Day weekend, and it’s also business people’s favorite times! Because whenever there are holidays, there will be all kinds of sales going on in the shopping places. Whether it’s Thanksgiving, Mother’s Days or Valentine’s Day, you are always very aware of it as all the media are kindly reminding you of those big days! When you open the newspapers, coupons flow toward your face; when you turn on TV or radios, the sales are all over the places!
When I walked into the Spokane Valley Mall this Saturday, all the red tags were standing up to get attentions. Ladies were holding more big and small shopping bags than regular times, and husbands looked more tired than ever as well. I think to myself: that’s the power of marketing! That’s exactly what I am talking about!
When holidays are coming, a battle is putting up by the businessmen and consumers. Business people want to come up with the cleverest tricks to scarify the least so that the consumers will shop the most to generate profits. My current favorite trick will be “buy one, and get the second one for a penny” which sounds so much better that “half price off”. Most people believe they are saving so much and it’s almost too good to be true. And it is NOT true because they always ended up spending more than they have to. And even better, they could get an extra credit card for extra ten-dollar-saving! How great is that!
