Before
I have the Marketing Research classes, it always makes me wonder why people have to do rebates. Originally, I guess it probably helps the company’s cash flow, and then it just gets ridiculous recently. The other day, I bought some low calories chocolate from the Staples which only cost me about 4 dollars. And then surprisingly, the receipt has a portion which is a rebate form. It basically says if I could online to do a three-minute research, I could get another dollar off, and I could be the winner of some kind of grand prize. So, as many of the regular consumers, we always want to take advantage of something, even tiny things. However, the questions from the survey just made me want to laugh as they ask questions about my income, diet habits, and even marriage conditions. I was like: hello, I only bought some chocolate, and I am not going to confess my whole life just for a buck! I exit the rebate, and hoping they did not save the information I have already entered.
Now, it seems to make more sense that rebate forms are a great way to get internal company data after I had the classes. With the increasing popularity of online forms, we even do the work for the people on the other ends! I think it’s a smart way to gain customer’s information, however, I recommend the business people to put some thoughts into the questions. And please never expect people to give away secrets for only a buck, even in today’s tough economy!
